"...Knowledge makes arrogant, but love edifies."

- 1 Corinthians 8:1

The church today appears to be out of balance. We have those who are almost illiterate of biblical truth and those who claim to have an explanation from God for everything. One is in danger of deception, the other in danger of arrogance. Neither produces the love that wins people to Christ or edifies a believer to grow in Christ. One does not have the answers that a sinful world needs and the other is self-absorbed in his own knowledge. One does not realize that “Jesus Calling” was not really Jesus calling. The other does not seem to understand we cannot explain everything when it comes to God. Neither, in reality, is reaching out in love to a sinner who needs Christ or a believer struggling with sin. If one truly comes to the Bible as his trusted source of knowledge, he will not remain illiterate nor will he remain arrogant. The Holy Spirit uses the Word of God to strike a balance in our lives by convicting us that there is much we need to learn, while at the same time, convicting us that there is much we cannot not know. And having been humbled by the Word, we can now reach out to others with the love of Christ. Be encouraged!
