Do not marvel that I said to you, “You must be born again”.

Without question, a vast number of professing Christians have nothing of Christianity except the name. They need to be converted and born again as much as those who openly reject Christ. Who is really a Christian? He is the one who by faith believes that Jesus Christ is the only hope of salvation and trusts Him alone for the forgiveness of his sin and the free gift of eternal life. For his salvation, he places no confidence in himself but full confidence in the One who died for his sin. Can he have doubts and be weak in his faith? Yes. But, ask him if he is willing to trust in something or someone else other than Jesus for salvation. Ask if his salvation depends upon his goodness, obedience, service or sacrifice. Ask if he would give up Christ. Be encouraged, because we can say with the Apostle Paul, “I know whom I have believed.”
