"...Behold, I am making all things new..."

-Revelation 21:5

The Bible makes over thirty comparisons between the old man, one without Christ, and the new man, one who has been saved by Christ. Where there was lying, now there is the telling of the truth. Holding a grudge turns to forgiveness. Criticism is replaced with edification. Selfishness gives way to a love for others. Complaining is subdued by thanksgiving. A love for the world is diminished by a love for God. Temporal values give way to eternal values. Pleasing people is laid aside and pleasing God becomes the priority. One of the great truths of Scripture is that in Christ you are set free from the enslavement to your sinful ways and by His Spirit you can walk in the newness of life. In His timing God will make all things new, including a new heaven and a new earth. In the meantime as you enter a New Year, as a believer, “lay aside the old self… and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.”
