"I know that Thou canst do all things, and that no purpose of Thine can be thwarted."
-Job 42: 2
Paul can say, “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me," for he knew in the Lord there was power to do all that God asked of him.
God's power is so great that He set the stars in the heavens by the word of His command. God's power is so real that he prepared a body for man with the dust of the ground. God's power is so awesome that Christ gave a single command and silenced the raging sea. How great it is to know that God's power is restrained by the chords of His grace and the ropes of His mercy. If it were not so, the power of God's wrath against sin would leap from heaven and destroy every sinner.
Praise God that by His grace and mercy, His omnipotent power is restrained lest we would be consumed. Praise God that in Christ we have the power to do what we could never do: the power to overcome temptation and sin, the power to stand up in a society that more and more rejects Him, the power to proclaim “the glorious gospel of the blessed God ...” With Jeremiah, we say, “Ah Lord God!” Behold, Thou hast made the heavens and the earth by Thy great power and Thine outstretched arm! Nothing is too difficult for Thee”. Be encouraged!
