For months now, as we come to another election, we have repeatedly heard the promises of politicians. It is as if they are miracle workers that can solve every problem and meet every need. Politicians, or our government, have created an "entitlement nation" where nearly half the populace is receiving some benefit or free handout. And yes, some genuinely need it. During the pandemic, the government paid millions in so-called relief, even to those who did not need it. Now we have the attempt to pay off student loans, with some even suggesting the government should pay off personal debt. So why is it in a nation when so many are promising, and so many are wanting something for nothing, is there a growing rejection of God's great gift of eternal life that is absolutely free? It is not the promises of politicians but the Lord who has paid for the greatest gift of all. In God's economy, debt must be paid, and the debt of sin, one's greatest debt, has been paid by our Lord and Savior. The Lord has done what politicians and elections could never do. Be encouraged!
