Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life; He who believes in me shall live even if he dies..."

-John 11:25

When Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, the Pharisees reacted, “If we let him go on like this, all men will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.” They were more concerned about the nation than life that comes through Jesus Christ. In an election year, the nation's problems overshadow the problem of sin, even though those problems are related to sin. The wages of sin is death; therefore, Lazarus died. No elected person has the answer to the problem of sin. Paul told the Corinthians that the gospel he preached was “of first importance” because only the gospel is the answer to sin. Therefore, our greatest problem in this election year, both individually and nationally, is not the national debt, climate change, immigration, inflation, and the economy or the threat of war. It can be summed up this way coming through Ezekiel, the prophet, “the soul that sinneth, it shall die.” No president or any other elected official can solve that problem. The problem is man's, but the answer is beyond man. Only the Lord, who has power over death, has the answer. When someone places their faith in Christ for salvation in a moment of time, they go from being dead in their sin to a new life in Jesus Christ and to the free gift of eternal life. Do not let all the problems brought forth in an election year get you down. As a believer, your greatest need has already been met by Christ. Be encouraged!
